Salvador Dali Museum - ANTS (but is it art?)

I blame the cheap air fares!

Nowadays, virtually anyone can fly anywhere for the price of a bag of crisps. And don’t get me started on the ozone layer, global warming and everything else to do with, well, what we all have to take seriously. Except China, India and the USA that is.

Anyway, back to budget priced flights.

What else can be blamed for this auction? I mean, if this UK eBay seller hadn’t been able to visit the Salvador Dali museum in Florida, we wouldn’t have this auction inflicted upon us, would we?

What this seller couldn’t have known, however, is that ants played a very important part in Salvador Dali’s life.

You may have wondered how Dali’s moustache remained jet black until the day he died. I did some expert Googling and, sure enough, I discovered that Dali used a special darkener which he dabbed on his facial hair. And, guess what? The primary ingredient in this home made concoction was - yes, you’re right - crushed ants!

So, if you want to immerse yourself in history, you might want to bid for this bag of ants.

Or, if the price starts creeping up. Like it might go up to as much as three or even four pounds, then you might as well fly to Florida, buy your own bag of ants from there, and still have change for a night out when you get home!

Antique Vintage Human Glass Eye Original Box

Who said that spare parts surgery was new? Here’s an example proving that our forefathers (and foremothers?) were at it too.

Even in their day, they were into redundancy. I don’t mean losing their jobs. I’m talking about redundancy in the NASA technology sense. As you will know, redundancy in the rocket world means having more than one of an item on board the space ship.

My mother would obviously have been an astronaut candidate because she was forever telling me to wear some additional unnecessary item of clothing, “Just in case.” She must have really understood about redundancy.

Well, now it’s your chance.

Thanks to eBay, you never need get caught short in the eye department. You can bid for this human glass eye in a box. I would say it’s definitely worth trying to win. Just in case!

Welcome to Funny Auctions

eBay is a fascinating place - the biggest online auction site in the world. In the UK there are around 10 million eBay members. And these members have something like 1 million auction listings running at any point in time.

It never ceases to amaze me how creative eBay sellers can be. As the sub-title to this site says, “Someone’s auctioning what????”.

Hopefully you will be entertained by the eBay auctions discussed here - whether they be unusual, amusing or simply bizarre.

One thing is for sure.

With eBay members, there’s no shortage of creativity.

Enjoy!
